23.10 -> 24.04
upgrade failed and I restarted the system thinking maybe I can retry or go back.
It failed on kden live setup scripts I believe.
I don't know how to gather further information, because I restarted my computer, and don't remember anything, because I thought it was fine. (also the logging window/terminal was entirely blank due to a rendering error, so I can't recall anything about the logs, sorry).
ISSUE: Games (Binaries) using graphics (launched from steam, probably not relevant, this affects Proton and Native games) run VERY slowly. (2-10 fps on my RTX 4070 NVIDIA card). Steam also runs 20-30 fps when using GPU acceleration.
(bless Minecraft java which somehow avoids every issue like this, including this one somehow, I know java is platform independent but I didn't know it was THIS independent)
SOLUTION CRITERIA (solutions following this are desired but not required):
Ideally does not involve disabling a feature and waiting for a patch in 2-3 years, and forgetting to turn it back on.
Has something to do with Vulkan, due to the games tested and broken all using it. (If you know how to reset my Vulkan driver install that would be helpful!)
