Yes, that did the trick :-D. Thanks!

Two final questions, I still can't select the wayland option from the login screen, is this supposed to be like this? (My 23.10 Kubuntu ran just fine under Wayland.)
And, does this mean the nice looking dell/kubuntu loading (splash) screen will never work again on this install?

I "think" that Wayland isn't installed by default in Kubuntu 24.04; still some unresolved niggles with it?

You can install support for it however. Open a Konsole and type: sudo apt install plasma-workspace-wayland
Windows no longer obstructs my view.

Perfect, it's great again :-) Thanks for your help!

That dell/kubuntu boot screen is not going to work again?

Can you elaborate? Which splash screen are you referring to specifically? At what point during the Power On to Desktop is/did this appear for you?

Maybe i'm not using the right term. But, when I booted my laptop, it would first give me the normal dell logo, after which, a the same dell logo reappeared, but with 'kubuntu' flashing underneath it in blue, then it would boot in to my desktop. Now, It's Dell logo --> lot of code --> desktop.

Removing "quiet splash" grub setting does this.
This is a workaround, and should be a temporary fix. Once fixed, this edit can be reverted.
Can't say when, but assuming it is this bug, and this testing fixes it, it should not bee too terribly long.
