    No wifi

    Hello,

I just installed Kubuntu (first time on linux and 0 knowledge btw) and the problem is I don’t have internet, I have a TP link USB Wlan adapter, which is detected but it just doesn't work, of course I asked AI which told me it might be a drivers problem so I tried installing them, via my phone cuz no wifi, but there comes a new problem, to install the driver it tells me to use "make" which is apparently not recognized as a command, so AI tells me to install build-essentials beut hey ! Still no wifi, can’t do that ! Please help me I'm going insane

I'm on the latest LTS version btw

    Welcome to KFN.

Please tell us about the PC you installed Kubuntu 24.04 LTS onto. Is it a Desktop or a Laptop? What are it's Specifications?

Unfortunately, with USB WiFi, we will need to so some device information to see which chip it uses.

Open Konsole and copy what the results of the command lsusb give. This will show a list if USB connected items and their IDs. From there we can see what may be needed.
Wifi chips are usually problematic, particularly with Realtek devices, which are quite common. In many to most cases, it just takes some work once we know which of the numerous chips your dongle has.
