Kubuntu 24.04 NetworkManager faileure after vmware install. Now won't boot properly

Hello. I'm hoping someone can help me out. I'm running kubuntu 24.04 and everything was going well until i tried to install vmware 17.5.0.2.. and it suggested a roboot. I was running VirtualBox 7.0 without any issues.

Now when i boot it takes ages to boot and when it does finally boot after logging in i have no network.and no internet and everything is slow.
I'm not getting any error messages on the desktop but when i hit Ctrl+Alt+F4 it tells me network manager failed to load.

I can load Activity monitor and terminal but when i try to Sudo in it tells me su: authentication failed.

when i run the nmcli command it says networkManager is not running.

I'm no expert but i was thinking maybe a reinstall might help,,,, but here's the problem, I cant find any information on how to preform a non-destructive install for Kubuntu. I can find loads for Ubuntu.

is this even possible? Or will i have to start from scratch. I don't have any backup drive.

    The exact error message is:

"failed to start systemctl-machine.service - virtual machine and container registration service

    and

failed to start network manager. service - network manager"

I also tried entering recovery mode and dropping to shell but it's asking for a password. I've tried my old and new password but neither work.

Also when i try to sudo into the terminal it says Su: Authentication failure
