    Weird Samba Issue

I've spent the past 4 hours without success, so I'm turning to you folks here for help. I have 5 machines at home. I'll call them machine A to E. Machine A, B, C all run Linux. Kubuntu on A & B with C being Linux Mint acting as a server. I have Samba installed on all machines and can access them with no problems whatsoever. Machine D and E runs Microsoft Windows with E being a laptop I lend out now and then. I was trying to back up files to the server from E as I need to replace the screen on it. Yes, I can probably find a VGA to HDMI cable but I don't live close to any shopping center (I'm currently in the country side) but what's the reason when I have all machines on the network? I can access shared directories on Machine E from the Windows machine D but NOT from any of my Linux machines. It keeps asking me for username and password (via Dolphin) when I'm entering the correct username/password for that particular machine. When I try it via konsole I get
    Code:
    do_connect: Connection to 192.168.16.09 failed (Error NT_STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL)
I've tried turning off password sharing via RDP from the other Windows Machine but that doesn't solve the issue. Am I missing something or it's just Windows and it's normal headache?
P.S...I just tried connecting again via Dolphin and it keeps spitting back the dialogue box for username and password. So, I used my Android tablet to see if it would log in and eureka! We have log in. Just not working from any of my Kubuntu box to the Windows laptop. I don't know why. I had to install Nomachine to copy the files across. Tried from the LInux Mint server and it does connect so I'm thinking the issue is with Kubuntu.

After another 4 hours of searching, editing my smb.conf file restarting samba and searching more, I got an idea after reading over a hundred posts with similar yet different issues. So, I decided why not give it a try? Hence, I logged in via rdp from the other machine and went to
    Code:
settings-->search box-->typed in "control panel" then pressed enter-->clicked on control panel-->default programs-->programs and features-->turn windows features on or off
I checked SMB1.0 CIFS File Sharing support, clicked ok and rebooted. Voila, it worked there after. I wonder why it worked without turning on this feature for the Linux Mint and Android devices but not for Kubuntu. Any ideas would be welcome. At least, it would help me better understand what happened and how to avoid such occurrence in the future.
