Sound from my microphone sounds hellish on 24.04

22.04 was perfect when doing audio calls or recording audio. But 24.04 sounds demonic. I found mic and speakers were set at 100% so I reduced those and have it down to something bearable, but the feedback is still very much there. 22.04 was out of the box perfect. How do I sort this?

I'm on Dell Inspiron 15 3585
