NVIDIA driver Crash while playing game Satisfactory via NVIDIA version 535.171.04 which is the latest

This driver has crashed many times but usually recovers this time it did not. I had to reset the computer's power. It crashes using anything Games, Firefox, everything. GTX 1060 6G VRAM. Always a blank black screen. Usually, it recovers within 3 seconds or less until just now.

and install 550 which works (generally speaking)

The 550 is not in the list after installing that ppa and going onto driver manager.

I just tried the 390 but Apt listed a bunch of errors:

Now, after more than a month of living with 24.04 I have come to the realisation that there are no "good" NVIDIA drivers. Admittedly my use case is one of productivity and entertainment which provides plenty of areas for problems which have been found by every NVIDIA driver version. Obviously you have suffered a similar experience by feeling the need of installing a 3 year old driver. I arrived at the same conclusion and just installed the Noveau driver. So I now have a stable system but some software cannot be fully utilised as it relies on newer NVIDIA driver functionality. You would think that with all the money available to them at the moment NVIDI could use some of it to fix their drivers. When my card dies it's definitely over to AMD for me.

It looks like NVIDIA put the 1060 back in their driver support. See the attached screenshot.


The 550.100 is not in the list as seen in the second screenshot.

Chasing spanking fresh nvidia drivers for 8 year old hardware might be a waste of time.
Are you even sure it is the driver? Logs? Error messages? Also, what about your hardware being old? Fans clean and operational? Is it overheating (Dried up thermal paste)?
Eliminate the easy things to rule out as causes for problems: is the card seated well, are the cables? Check with fresh video cables. Check fans.

The video card was purchased new last year and installed by me last month. My main computer died so I am using an old one sitting around waiting to be used. I am building a new rig with a 2070 super and 8GB VRAM. The RAM is 64 GB. 3 M.2 drives two 1 TB and one 2 TB. I will probably get a 3070 Later when I have money to spare for a new G card. I understand the 3070 is best for games like Cyber Punk 2077 and others. I guess I will have to wait another week or so for those slow pokes to get the video driver up Lol. Sorry didn't notice the date on the driver until you mentioned it.

but is still a card from 8 years ago. Driver chasing is still probably not going to do much, but id still suggest checking cables. I have almost replaced a GPU over that.

Are you referring to this one: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:graphics-drivers/ppa That one is already added. I am guessing it will show up in this repo before the default Ubuntu repo.

If I go to the website, it lists it, but when I run Drivermanager via the settings GUI, it is not listed. Why is this?
