[DESKTOP] Problems, after problems. I'll list here

    I've got to go hospital..
Printer was there a few days ago, now printers not available
system runs very slow, as in mouse stops responding

    &&&&&

my auto mount drives are not auto-mounting.
USB. Used to auto mount when plugged in.
I have an INTERNAL Drive that isn't mounting, unless I've clicked on it, and I have even added it to /etc/GRUB

and I cannot find automount in system settings, and I've searched here and not found anything that solves my issues.
    more later

    Okay. Something Weird
    I originally install 20.04 Focal
    Upgraded to 22.04
Upgraded to 24.04. That was fun. I'm still trying to undo/remove or the garbage software. Bluetooth (blue devil-I select to remove and it wants to remove Kubuntu-Desktop). Something called calendar reminders (23 processes), etc
Other problems was "Synaptic Package Manger" told me to remove Firefox snap. I let it. No Firefox... After getting another PC firefox to work, I managed to find the command
    Code:
    sudo snap install firefox
.. AT least it remembered all my settings, history, bookmarks, etc....

    ANYHOW....
In the software sources of the Gnome version of software and updates (I had to manually install that too as Synaptic wont tell you the software sources).... It's still using Focal backend

There is NO mention of "Noble Numbat" front or back ends or even sideways

How do I get my 24.04 Kubuntu (LINUX) to find and use the Numbat software source ?

    === sort of unrelated ===
    I've also used Muon or
    Code:
    Apt Install <softwarename>
Now Synaptic uses dpkg for installing or removing software...

Q- Should I learn the dpkg command method ?
Q- If Yes. Any Noob guides I can follow please ?

Q- What is "snap" install ?
Q- Should I be doing this vs DPKG ?

Q- What is applimage (If I've spelt that correctly) It has come up a few times (Yubico website).
AND - I don't have a clue how to use it, hence my yubico is DEAD. This is basically the only Online Site I can now access due to no MFA capabilities.

      Thanks
So for whatever reason, this suddenly started to work, For the Moment....
Q- Is there a 'list' of what has changed, as in
--old setting (example window settings apply initially Size)
      --new setting
      --newly created setting
--disabled or disused (no longer used) setting (example Muon)
== Something simple and easy to read and understand.
      Thanks

        Desktop
        Some programs or some software

        very small writing.

I have already manually adjusted system fonts and increased them by one pt. Dolphin is okay, except the 'PLACES' panel is now too big.

I just opened MKVToolNix and I really need a magnifier... It was so small.

Q- Why is everything so small, tiny, etc ?

Q- Why is it only affecting some software and not others ?

SideNOTE - I have Lubuntu as a VM, and I've just upgraded that to 24.04, and it's the same there. One program opens and it's 8 or 6 pt font. Exit the Program and restart, and it's I guess 'normal'. Readable. 11 pt font (as selected in settings)

So.... IS this a Linux problem ? Since it's affecting KDE and LXQt Desktops ?
(I think they both use Qt.. For whatever that is.)

EDIT: - So I searched and Qt is the cross platform desktop environment. Basically the GUI for KDE & Kubuntu

This is working now.. Temp upgrade error ??

Still having issues with typing and mouse delays.. Every now and then the system suddenly freezes.
Q- Does anyone have any ideas about this?

            Problem (x2-y4)

Also Bluetooth. I keep removing it, Discover (now uninstalled) keeps returning it. My PC doesn't have blue tooth so why is the 'system' constantly re-adding it or reinstalling it. This just doesn't make sense.

When I attempted to remove Blue Devil it wanted to also remove "kubuntu-desktop"
Q- Seriously ! What is going on?

Notifications.... I used to get an audio 'bell' when I selected "Delete" or "Permanently-Delete" something, usually Dolphin.

There is now little to no configuration settings within Dolphin

AND the Notifications system settings isn't much better.

I'll say it again.. 24.04 is officially a M$ product. Expect to pay for the lease next release
M$(Is a reflection of iApple. You do it our way. We tell YOU how to use our product. You don't have any protections or freedoms !
The adoption of the iApple model was to reduce the number of ways Windozs can "stuff up" due to PEBKAC errors ! If your forced to do things only they way they force you, then overall you should get less complaints. I am speculating, that is what Linux is now doing. So much for recycling older computers M$ Windozs wont run on !
