Now the monitor flickers over and over like Kubuntu is trying to start but can not.
Just to remind users and devs that Ubuntu and its flavors have a long way to go to be as usr friendly as they should be.

The errors will be at the end, or enough to see what is happening. You don't need the whole thing. Just the part with the error. Even the last ~20 lines should be enough, though you may not need even that much.

I used recovery mode and now it is deleting a bunch of packages. I'll let you know whether it fixed it or not.

It booted to the desktop and a restart worked but the taskbar is still broken. I need to eat now so I will resume troubleshooting a while later.

Another standard troubleshooting tip for UI problems is to create a fresh user account, and see if this happens there. It is a very quick way to see if it specific to your user configs as opposed to being a system wide issue. Might prevent a reinstall.

Yes, that might work since the system seems to work so it might be that part of my user account is broken. Since my user account is just broken but not borked then maybe rebuilding it will fix it. Now I have to figure out how to do that. I did that once before just got to remember how I did it.

I tried again and it worked. I used a different name so I guess if it's too much like the previous one then it doesn't work. It would be nice if it said why not instead of just not doing anything. How do I copy over my configs like drive permissions?

I tried opening Dolphin as sudo using dolphin --sudo and it said it had to install some stuff but apparently, the install failed so something else must be broken on my system The system appears to have switched from the Xserver to Wyland. I suspect the switch didn't go to the Ubuntu developers' plans.

                      sudo apt install --fix-broken
                      and
                      Code:
                      sudo apt install --fix-missing
Normally that should take care of most failed installation of packages/dependencies. It's the reason I always use the terminal to do system updates and leave Discover updater for themes updates and other non-essential updates (flatpaks). There, if anything is broken I can see what it is right away.
I said they didn't work in response # 12 but the copy-paste didn't work and I didn't notice so you wouldn't have know I was referring to those two commands not working. Apparently, It is one of those rare problems that are very difficult to track down.

It appears that making a new user fixed the old user. The taskbar looked better and I was able to select the Kubuntu default;t taskbar which displayed correctly. I don't know that it fixed everything but everything appears to be working correctly so far. The colors are a bit different but that's probably because plasma updated and it switched from X to Wayland.

Or, it could be there was some corrupted files in your home directory of the old account that was making things difficult for you.
