This is an issue I had posted about in the 22.04 forum, and it still happens in 24.04. You can reference the post here. Here's some additional information, not included in that post
My rig:
Dual-Boot with Windows 10, and Kubuntu 24.04
CPU: i9-9900K
Driver: nvidia-driver-550 (Proprietary)
Compositor: disabled
Number of displays: 3 (usually configured to 1 or 2 displays. TV is always primary)
Display server: X11
- I've found that changing the TV to a different input then back resolves the display crash, instead of unplugging it.
- This happens only on the lock screen, and not before login.
- It's happened 3 times in as many months.
- The TV is using HDMI, while the other two displays use DisplayPort
- Lock screen will not accept input from the virtual keyboard either, despite the keyboard showing the typing animations.
- Visually, the lock screen works (eg brings up the password box, if I move the mouse. Shows cursor in the password box, if I click there)
If you need more information, please let me know.
