[SOLVED] Change laptop lid closed behaviour

I usually use a laptop with an external monitor with the laptop as primary and extended onto the monitor as secondary. In 22.04 (and also in 22.04 updated to 24.04) I could set the display to turn off the screen when I closed the laptop lid and the external monitor would also turn off, though it would awaken to a log-in screen with a mouse wiggle. However, in a clean install of 24.04, if I set the display to turn off (and also select 'even when an external monitor is connected') then when I close the laptop lid, the external screen just continues to show the desktop. If I set the laptop lid to option to set the lock screen, then the lock screen shows on the external monitor. There seems to be no way to turn off the external monitor as well when the laptop lid is closed. As I could do this on a 22.04 laptop upgraded to 24.04 I assume there is a conf file somewhere that controls this behaviour that the settings GUI is not altering in the machine with the clean 24.04 installation.

Well I did kind of find a work-around, it's not perfect but at least it LOOKS like it's doing the same thing. I just changed the lock-screen background to pure black and switched off the clock and media display - at least now it looks like it's off, even when it isn't.
