Flatpak updating hangs at "Calling system helper: GetRevokefsFd"

My flatpaks aren't updating. I noticed this a few days ago when the updater process via Discover hangs, and today I ran a verbose flatpak update command and found out that it hangs at "Calling system helper: GetRevokefsFd". This happens no matter which package I try updating first.

Any idea why this might be happening or what I could try to fix it?

Are Flatpaks installed system wide or for a specific user only in your case?

Any interesting output of sudo systemctl status flatpak-system-helper.service ?

I believe they're system-wide. Whatever the default is when you enable the Flatpak backend in Discover.

The problem seemingly fixed itself though. I tried again today and everything updated fine.
