[RESOLVED] Only getting desktop background/wallpaper and right-click context menu on one of my screens

I did a cursory Google search for this, but couldn't find a fix. I have a dual-monitor setup, both screens identical hardware/same resolution. When I set a background of any type, even just a solid color, it only shows up on one of the screens. The other is just black. That black screen is still working, windows appear on it, and the toolbar appears. But no background. Also, no right-click context menu on the black screen.

I also looked for guidance on what details I should provide in this request for help, but couldn't find any. What config file(s) could I include in this post that would help with troubleshooting?

To whomever is reading this later on, I ended up reinstalling with 24.04. Interestingly enough, I had only one working monitor after installing, so I installed the latest NVIDIA driver (550) from their drivers page, and that completely borked the machine. I ended up installing *again* and using driver 535 from ubuntu-drivers, and now I have both screens working, with wallpaper and right-click context menus.

It 'sounds' as if you have the second display setup/configured to be an extension of the primary Desktop. What do you see in System Settings > Display and Monitor > Display Configuration.

Hi, thanks for the quick feedback! Here's a screenshot of my Display Configuration. The interesting thing is, the screen with the black background is the Primary.

Unless you are mirroring the Displays, backgrounds are configured for each display.

OK. I launch the Desktop and Wallpaper configuration menu, and it only gives me one choice for what wallpaper to set, and it only appears on the screen on the right. I have no right-click context menu on the left (primary) screen, but when I do Alt-D Alt-S, I get the same dialog, and any changes only affect the screen on the right. Do you have any suggestions for what I should look at next?

Installing the .run from Nvidia's website has borked many installations in many different distributions over the years. That's why I always recommend to use the Nvidia driver directly from your distribution's repositories…

"Samsung Electric Company" ?? What the heck is that? Sounds like a public utility or a 70's kids TV show, lol.

I've used many Samsung products over the years including monitors (I have a couple now) - never seen that moniker.
