Chrome icon launcher not working properly in icons only task manager

My problem is pretty simple. I set up shortcuts from chrome and then pin them to the task manager. When I launch one of them first, the chrome icon is replaced by a second icon and will not launch chrome, but instead launches the web shortcut. This is very annoying and I can't figure out why it is doing this. I have tried all the grouping settings. I even deleted the panel and recreated it. It continues to have the same behavior.

Another observation is that the libreoffice launchers behave in a strange way. I have pinned libreoffice writer to the task manager. When I click on it, it opens a new generic libreoffice icon at the end of the task manager. If I then open a libreoffice calc, it groups it to that icon. If I tell it not to grouip, there is no way to tell the writer instance from the calc instance.

I decided to check the KDE forums, and found my answer. When I switch back to xorg, it works fine. Apparently, Kubuntu 23.10 is not ready for Wayland.
