KDE Frameworks 5.111 available in Kubuntu Backports

Above-mentioned updates for our preferred desktop environment are availabe for Kubuntu 23.10 in the Kubuntu Backports PPA.

    Thank you very much!

Link to the changelog for KDE Frameworks 5.111 :
    https://kde.org/announcements/frameworks/5/5.111.0/

You can find the installation instructions on the Kubuntu Backports PPA website, but here they are again:

Open the Konsole terminal emulator and enter
    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports
    sudo apt update
    sudo apt full-upgrade
    reboot

After this any future updates that the Kubuntu Backports PPA provide for your Kubuntu version will be automatically installed when you update your system.

As always I strongly recommend that you have prepared some way to revert your system to a previous state if something goes wrong, e.g.:

One can install ppa-purge before and use it to get rid of the Kubuntu Backports' packages again.
Or use a Timeshift system backup.
Or use LVM/ext4 with snapshots or btrfs with snapshots as your file system.
Or use a Clonezilla volume backup.
    Or …

You can also find an overview about the different versions of the KDE Plasma desktop environment and its components in Kubuntu here:

Don't know how you got KDE Frameworks 5.111. I'm also running 23.10 and have the kubuntu-ppa/backports repository. I'm fully updated, but my KDE Frameworks is at 5.110.

I saw that; visited the launchpad ppa site. Even so, my 23.10 continues to say everything is up to date; no new/upgradable packages get identified. Just tried again a minute ago.

What server (Software Sources > Ubuntu Software > Download from:) are using? I'm using Main server.

"Server for Germany" - but this should have no effect on the Kubuntu Backports PPA, should it? Only on the mantic-backports

Does sudo apt update list https://ppa.launchpadcontent.net/kubuntu-ppa/backports/ubuntu mantic InRelease ?

Correct, there is no vast network of mirrors for the PPA infrastructure, so any locale changes for apt mirrors has no effect on them.

                I have it here.
You aren't using plain old 'apt upgrade' by any chance, instead of 'apt full-upgrade'?

The update to Plasma 5.27.9 from the Kubuntu Backports did work two weeks ago?

No pinned packages. So why am I stuck on Plasma 5.27.8 and KDE Frameworks 5.110?

Because you seem to only have
                          deb-src https://ppa.launchpadcontent.net/kubuntu-ppa/backports/ubuntu/ mantic main
                          in your /etc/apt/sources.list.d/kubuntu-ppa-ubuntu-backports-mantic.list .
(Same situation with the other PPA from the “Utappia” team.)

Remove the two PPAs and add them again with sudo add-apt-repository
                          or
try to manually add the line
                          deb https://ppa.launchpadcontent.net/kubuntu-ppa/backports/ubuntu/ mantic main
                          in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/kubuntu-ppa-ubuntu-backports-mantic.list
(same for the other PPA accordingly)
and sudo apt update && apt list --upgradable.

Now you should see a lot of Plasma and Frameworks packages that can be updated with sudo apt full-upgrade.

PS: Perhaps your whole situation has something to do with https://www.kubuntuforums.net/forum/...-properties-qt

Corrected that and now have 278 packages to upgrade/install. Thank you for the 'extra eyes'!

Glad that it worked out. Enjoy the updates!

But the question remains: how could this happen?
You certainly didn't create /etc/apt/sources.list.d/kubuntu-ppa-ubuntu-backports-mantic.list manually and forgot to add the "deb" line…
