    scan rkhunter when installing the system​


    and the message appears, I believe it is a false positive

    I just installed it and it appears:

    1: /usr/bin/lwp-request [Warning]

    2: Checking for suspicious (large) shared memory segments [ Warning ]

    3: Checking for hidden files and directories [ Warning ]

    System checks summary ============================= File properties checks...

    Files checked: 144 Suspect files: 1 Rootkit checks... Rootkits checked : 478 Possible rootkits: 2 Application checks...


    All checks skipped All results have been written to the log file: /var/log/rkhunter.log One or more warnings have been found while checking the system.


    Please check the log file (/var/log/rkhunter.log)​

    rkhunter is a program that has not been actively maintained since 2018 AFAIK.

    Did you cross-check with chrootkit for example? But one should know: though chrootkit seems to be more up to date than rkhunter it has not been tested with kernel 6.x according to its author!

    IMHO those programs have not been written with something like an *Ubuntu interim release such as 23.04 in mind, but for something like *Ubuntu LTS or RHEL/CentOS/SUSE Linux Enterprise/BSD workstations and servers…

    get rid of Snap script (20.04 +)reinstall Snap for release-upgrade script (20.04 +)
    install traditional Firefox script (22.04 +)​ • install traditional Thunderbird script (24.04)

      yes i tested many searches the result was like clean distributions

      rkhunter more for server, outdated since 2018 I agree.
