I setup my VPN today = expressvpn
tried a test connection and it works great

I then download the pre-made ovpn files from expressvpn for the Ubuntu network connection manager and set a few of those up using instructions on Expressvpn
--I have done this before about a month ago on 20.04 LTS and all was working great
--I had a system crash due to bad user behaviour (I forgot I should NOT delete anything from /var - EVER - been a long time since I ran Linux as daily driver - so re-learning a bunch of stuff and THAT was a hard lesson)

I decided if I HAD to reinstall everything, may as well go with the most recent OS and install Kubuntu 22.10

The ExpressVPN connection setups in network manager were working fine until I got to the fifth one.

I set up Toronto = connect and disconnected fine
I set up Toronto2 = connect and disconnected fine
I set up Montreal = connect and disconnected fine
I set up Barcelona = connect and disconnected fine
I set up Barcelona2 = connect and disconnected fine
I set up Madrid= did not connect gave error failed to activate Madrid <-I thought maybe node down so continued
I set up Mexico = did not connect gave error failed to activate Mexico <-I thought maybe node down so continued
I set up New Jersey = did not connect gave error failed to activate New Jersey <-I thought no way 3 nods are down - this is unheard of for ExpressVPN
I go back to my first 5 connection that worked and tried them again - all are failing to connect with failed to activate error from KDE Plasma network manager
I go to terminal and all the above are connecting fine from the terminal
    I run sudo tail -f /var/log/syslog
I try to use network manager again:

    -----------tail output above-----------

Al through out this the terminal works fine - which is, I suppose a blessing, but I AM a long time Windows user who is GUI addicted - I AM learning more about terminal though, thank god.

I have seen posts all over the web with this particular situation with network manager not working and this exact error from Arch to Ubuntu, Debian Fedora, Mint - this list goes on and it goes from 2013 to 2022 as near as I can find on the web.

I can use the terminal but prefer the GUI and network manager is my one and only option for VPN.
Any help resolving this would be MOST appreciated

I got the network manager working .
If anyone is here in the future for this reason - > open up the opvn file and comment out keysize 256

    IE:

    cipher AES-256-CBC
    #keysize 256
    auth SHA512
    sndbuf 524288
    rcvbuf 524288
    auth-user-pass
