    kwin crashes

    Hello together,

    I am new to the forum, although I have been using kubuntu for about 15 years now.

    Since the upgarde to kinetic (default installation) I have almost daily kwin crashes, often kwin is automatically restarted and then works again - albeit with some incorrect display of the windows. Mostly only a reboot helps in this situation.

    I have this problem on both of my desktops, both with Intel graphics.

    The PCI Vendor and Device values are both listed in the i915 list of compatible devices

    Although KWin is the compositor for X and Wayland your display might work better under Wayland that under X.

      okay thx! I try Wayland and come back wit the result. Sometimes it takes 1-2 days until it starts to crash

        short intermediate state ... so far it runs stable with wayland

            me again

            the only problem i have now with wayland is that not everything is supported. Screen sharing works neither with slack nor with teams (only a black desktop is transferred) and the screen recorder tools which I have tested only record a black image

                OBS can be used for screen recording, currently. The next release of Spectacle should have built in screen recording, including Wayland, so that should be in the next Kubuntu release, hopefully.

                For Slack, there are tweaks that may work, depending on the install method, enabling support that Slack haven't yet enabled by default:

                For Teams, though there may not be a fix as of yet.
                Zoom can be made to work, in the browser, if not the standalone app.

                Electron based apps are generally crap in general, and the specific version of this being used by the application can be a factor here. I think all of these are electron.
