I have an issue where if I let the PC sit by itself for a few hours (more than 6 - not exactly sure how long it takes) I et a desktop or two with duplicate icons produced on it and another loses it's taskbar and background settings (it reverts to the default background and state for a non-primary monitor). I have no clue whats causing this. I have tried NVIDIA drivers from 525.xx.x down to 470.xx.x and I still have issues.
If I let the PC sit for more than 6hours (I go to work, sleep, out etc, etc) when I return my desktop has duplicate icons all over it and at last one if not all my monitors settings have reverted to the way they were when I first installed them.
As you can imagine this is annoying.
I mean it's one reboot (30-40 seconds) and a few minutes (5-10 depending on my new user memory) to add panels, change settings and get everything back the way it was when I left it.
So it's not the most time consuming thing in the world but it IS annoying.
Anyone seen behavior like this or know how to pinpoint the cause? Video card? Drivers or hardware?
Any input into how I can determine these things from Linux (driver issues or OS issues) would be most appreciated.
I can troubleshoot the hardware myself and my games run fine with little to no issues so I assume that means the video card is good :-)
Thanks a bunch - J
