    Clone to smaller SSD?

Is there any reliable software which will clone a 256gb SSD to A 240gb SSD on Kubuntu?

Running on a backup 256gb SSD now and would like to move it to my 240gb SSD which has crashed and is failing to boot.

Read through this post on ask Ubuntu. It seems to contain valid information/instructions for doing what you want.

I haven't done this in a while, but what I did while using Clonezilla to move my Openmediavault NAS install to a much smaller ssd was to shrink my largest partition enough so that the total size of all of them was well under the size of the new drive. I left the extra space unformatted. And I did NOT use the "Resize partition table proportionally" option. I probably did select the -icds option but I am not sure. After the cloning, I resized partitions on the clone to use up any empty space.

There are other non-foss tools that can do this as well (Macrium?)

        I'll give that a try.
        Thank you.
