Sleep not working since last update !

    System:
    Operating System: Kubuntu 22.04
    KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.7
    KDE Frameworks Version: 5.92.0
    Qt Version: 5.15.3
    Kernel Version: 5.15.0-118-generic (64-bit)
    Graphics Platform: X11
    Processors: 4 × Intel® Core™ i5-4570T CPU @ 2.90GHz
    Memory: 15.4 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: Mesa Intel® HD Graphics 4600

    Issue:
The computer does not goes to sleep since last night's update.

The command is issued from the Desktop drop-down menu OR the Sleep button on the keyboard.

The only change in the system is the last automatic update and reboot.

    Behaviour:
The desktop goes blank but the mouse cursor is still displayed but it hangs for approximately a minute, nothing happens and then it reverts to normal operation.

    What I have tried:
    systemctl suspend

Same outcome & behavior... hangs for a minute and reverts to normal.

Any help to confirm this is a bug AND a solution would be appreciated since I now need to Shut Down the whole system everytime !

    Thanks

Does it work when booting to a previous kernel from the Grub menu?
You might also consider enabling the HWE kernel stack for a more current kernel that the original 5.15, if that is an option.
(I had thought that all *buntu 22.04 and newer LTS would be on this by default, even those who installed from the original ISO release.)

You probably need to use a system monitor to find out what process is using those PIDs. Could be a device driver, or any number of things, making it a bit tough to track.

Having similar issue. Just started this week (been running Kubuntu on this Thinkpad for 5 years w/o issue). Plasma locks up completely if there's no keyboard/activity for more that ~5min.. Full system lockup, doesn't even generate journalctl logs and machine starts to heat rapidly. Requires hard reboot. Something seems to be really borked in power management. Disabled screen dimming features with no change. Currently running 5.15.0-118-generic, but happens with 117 as well.

Ran memtest86+ for hours last night with clean results.
