When setting other update notifications to only use tray icons it still shows the popup. I want upgrade notifications to only show in the taskbar.

Just to remind users and devs that Ubuntu and its flavors have a long way to go to be as usr friendly as they should be.

Go to system settings -> personalization -> notifications. At the bottom you should see "applications: configure" button. Click configure, click Discover, uncheck "show popups."
