    [SOLVED] Kdenlive 22.08 and melt7

thought I could install the newest stable version of Kdenlive from PPA, but ran into a problem as
    libmlt7data: 7.8.0-1-ubuntu22.04.1
    melt7: 7.8.0-1-ubuntu22.05.1
    won't install...

    any ideas?

What specifically is happening? What is the specific error messaging when trying to install it via apt? Not much to go on here.

With zero information to go on, my initial guess is the person who owns the PPA has had some issues with the new release, or some component broke?
There is always the appimnage or flatpak if you just want to give this fresh-fromm-the-oven release a whirl, and give whoever is running the PPA time to address whatever issues they may be having.

One potential thing to try, if you already have Kdenlive installed, might be to uninstall it and its dependencies, update, then try installing it again. It is always possible that the third-party packaging doesn't play nice with existing stock packaging.

you're exactly right...I unistalled Kdenlive in Konsole and then updated and it worked!

originally, I just added the PPA from the Kdenlive website and tried to update the package which caused Discover to give me a restart loop...

I mistakenly didn't copy the errors from Konsole, and didn't give anyone much to work information to work from!
