[DESKTOP] The new look double menu sucks

This new double menu sucks. You have all the menu items, already laid out you just slide your mouse over them. I can see why (speed), but I loved the Favourites ONLY menu, then go a select other menu items if needed.

Is there a way to restore the Favourites as a first choice menu, then move mouse to "see more menu choices" button or icon and the double menu appears?

right click on the menu Icon and check out the alternative menus.
I particularly like the Application dashboard model.

That explains what happened to the cascading folders menu of previous versions. Sadly, its broken. I didn't even know there were alternatives. Why is there an icon bar to the side of the cascading menu alternative? It makes it a mile high.

There are gobs and gobs of alternative, user-created menu widgets, far more than the three stock ones. Even the previous styled one is available
Either from right-clicking on the panel or desktop and going to the Add Widgets option, if you open the KDE Store via the Get New Widgets, and browse or search for 'menu' or 'launcher' you will find a ton.

Legacy Kickoff is the one that is the style used in 20.04

Those are favorites. removable of course.
As someone who has used KDE since the only choice was the mile-high and two-miles-deep cascading submenus (without the bar), I think this current iteration of the cascading one one is well done. I will never never ever use it mind you

Yeah, now that I got the favs under control and the cascade redone, its working quite nicely and at a reasonable height. I like the icons to the left now that I realize what it is. It is handy for the ones I use regularly but not as regularly as the ones on the task bar. The menu installed by default was yuck. The grid helped a bit, but I do not want to see every single program in a list. This is why I built sub categories. Now I can find stuff.

I hate to say it, but I really like the start menu in Windows 10. If you hide the application list, and build out the start page with categories and icons, its really the fastest way to navigate my most used programs. Especially if you use a touch screen.
