    Upgrading from 20.04

    I'm still using kubuntu 20.04

I understand that there's no way to upgrade to 22.04 from the system itself.
But can upgrade my system from a disk or do I have to do a fresh installation ?

Actually, though the Kubuntu (Plasma) parts did reach EOL, the packages just stopped receiving updates. As all of Kubuntu is found in the same repositories shared with Ubuntu, the underlying OS still has the full 5-year LTS lifespan, so upgrading from 20.04 to 22.04 should still work as expected. The infrastructure and software sources are still present and fully functional.

If you are not seeing an upgrade prompt, you can start the process yourself

My dusty old 20.04 virtual machine just booted, and I am prompted to upgrade.....which seems to be proceeding fine, once I fully updated.

There is no method to upgrade *buntu from disk.
