Getting rid of an LVM root partition

    Hi gang,

So, I have come to the conclusion that LVM is one of the sources my problems with my current installation. The computer has an odd dependency on a USB card reader (Genesys 5 in 1) where it will not start if I REMOVE the card reader. However, it is also slow to start and fails about 50% of the time with the card reader plugged in. It seems to hang up right after the LVM volume check. I have tried everything I know to convince to computer to ignore the card reader to no avail. So I want to get rid of the base OS and reinstall... but...

Nothing wants to get rid of that LVM partition. I have tried a variety of ways to delete the volume to no avail. I cannot seem to unmount it even when starting from a live USB. It wont even allow me to install to it. The problem is, the NVME holds my /home directory in a separate partition, otherwise I would simply do a smart erase using Samsung's tool. How do I tell the installer to get rid of the LVM on the existing root partition?

I am at the point of trying the windows installer to see if it can delete the partition and make it usable again. Again, I need to preserve the non-LVM /home partition.

    TIA
