    [SOLVED] Install DVD not working

My old ASUS "died" the other day, and I got a used P6T SE ASUS motherboard/ATI Radeon HD 4770 based workstation. Win10 working just fine - but the Kubuntu 22.04 will not do anything, just driving the DVD player "crazy". At first some reference to the graphics (too fast for me to record), and then in the end (10 minutes - 20?)

FAILED to start Snap daemon Dispatcher

FAILED to start Ubuntu Live CD installer.-

So, I tried the simpler graphics option, and at first things looks fine, the Kubuntu logo with four white dots repeatedly turning blue, then after a time, red dots, ending in a screen where the top is mainly pink, and the lower part is black.

Then I tried the 20.04 DVD. Installing "just fine" - except it is the Ubuntu, not Kubuntu.

What am I up to here? I am looking for a dual boot at this PC.

Someone to help me - it has been a long time since I did anything else than just use Kubuntu (20.04).

    USB does not work?
I am thinking that the DVDs are not well tested these days, and USB is the preferred install media.

Too bad - the USB option seems not to work. The BIOS has a "External device" option, but no luck.

        Legacy USB Support [Auto]

Allows you to enable or disable the support for legacy USB devices. Setting to [Auto] allows

the system to detect the presence of USB devices at startup. If detected, the USB controller

legacy mode is enabled. If no USB device is detected, the legacy USB support is disabled.

        Configuration options: [Disabled] [Enabled] [Auto]
It seems some solutions to USB booting on this mobo involve setting this to "Enabled"

otherwise, the usual DVD troubleshooting tips:
slower burn speed, try different media (especially if the disks are old), clean the lens, maybe the burner is kaput or on its way there, even.

Managed to find a combination that accepted the USB drive. Then I had to remove the second monitor, and everything seemed fine. Did the install.

Then the boot disk had to be moved in the BIOS, and ... after the login I got a red monitor #1 and then a blue - and nothing more happened. #2 just balck. No rectionm to the mouse or keyborad.

Wellm GRUB does lead just fine into WIN10 - that's something I suppose.

I'm close to say f**** Kubuntu!

Oh, well. Next time starting, the normal start appeared - on my Lenovo monitor. No mouse, though. And no menues at the bottom or left side of the monitor.

What I can do, is klicking on the screen, and get into the properties setup.

I am pretty sure now. my problem is the two monitors. Kubuntu keeps the Benq (right) monitor black, but the mouse arrow and windows can be put there.

I have been trying to see the error message at the start, but so far only part of it (it rolls pretty quick)

1.389116] ldmparse to cblock .... TOCblock not found (or something like that)

I'd better stop now, get som beer - and go back to it tomorrow.

If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would be very happy!

It seems I got a hardware problem - one of the monitors has disappeared. So perhaps I better post it to hardware?

The problem posted here, as said above, was solved when I got the BIOS to accept my USB drive.

So, after I don't know how many restarts, going back to the first core installed, update etc. at long last I'm in and it is working. The main problem might be the Benq monitor.

Yes, I have seen this problem before.

I had this issue with Kubuntu 21.04
                  https://www.kubuntuforums.net/showthread.php/78091-Kubuntu-21-04-fails-to-install/page3

Kubuntu 21.10 also has the same problem:
                  https://www.kubuntuforums.net/forum/currently-supported-releases/kubuntu-21-10-impish-indri/pre-installation-ab/657434-install-kubuntu-21-10-from-dvd

However, with Kubuntu 22.04, the problem is solved.
Except, you have to wait for a very long time. Maybe 20 min.
Even when it gives such errors as
FAILED to start Snap daemon Dispatcher
FAILED to start Ubuntu Live CD installer.

it will then start up the GUI.

I’m sure that they test with DVDs but perhaps there is a compatibility problem with some systems.
