[SOLVED] Pre-Installation on an HP 14-cf0006dx full LTS 22.04

I wish to install LTS 22.04. Pre-Installation of Full LTS 22.04 on an HP 14-cf0006dx. When I press F2 I get a very interesting screen with no boot options. Screen says "Version 1.24.0.0 BIOS For more information visit [{hp.com URL]} Memory check, Hard Drive check, Language, Exit are the options. Please see the attached picture.

My questions are: How do I get to the boot options? (or has HP locked us out?) I am willing to open this laptop and pull the SSD and put in a new one if I have to. I have done installations on another machine and then moved the hard drive over with no errors, just an update issue. Is pulling a drive in this type of machine going to work?

You will need to use a different F-key to access the boot menu, F2 is a special diagnostics utility.
Probably F9, looking at the user manual, with F10 getting you to the BIOS setup. Likely you can get a general main menu using <esc>, which will include a boot menu option.

I've got a USB drive that boots on my Apple MB. Now I can't seem to find a config to get the HP to boot to that. Looked through the service manual and haven't found the info on getting around this issue. Disabled Secure Boot and enabled Legacy boot and end up in a mobius loop back into the bios and no booting to USB. Have USB Boot enabled. Have USB hard disc as primary boot option, but the BIOS has the arrow on OS boot Manager. I made the TPM hidden and disabled the Intel SGX. My question is, should I pull the hard drive and replace with a preloaded LTS? OR/ is there a preferred configuration on the UEFI Boot Order and Legacy Boot Order menus? See attached picture file....

Does this USB have the Kubuntu install ISO transferred onto it? Or a USB with something for Apple?

If you have legacy boot mode, you probably will want to disable that.
          From your manual:
          Changing the computer boot order
If your computer does not restart using the HP Recovery media, you can change the computer boot order. This
is the order of devices listed in BIOS where the computer looks for startup information. You can change the
selection to an optical drive or a USBflashdrive, depending on the location of your HP Recovery media.
          To change the boot order:
IMPORTANT:For a tablet with a detachable keyboard, connect the tablet to the keyboard base before
          beginning these steps.
          1.Insert the HP Recovery media.
          2.Access the system Startup menu.
For computers or tablets with keyboards attached:
Turn on or restart the computer or tablet, quickly press esc, and then pressf9for boot options.
          For tablets without keyboards:
Turn on or restart the tablet, quickly hold down the volume up button, and then selectf9.
          ‒ or –
Turn on or restart the tablet, quickly hold down the volume down button, and then selectf9.
3.Select the optical drive or USB flash drive from which you want to boot, and then follow the on-screen
          instructions
Did you try to follow these steps to boot from the Kubuntu installation USB media?

Well, yes I did have installation problems. I got errors on the guided install. Turns out that the install could not delete all the restore partitions. So I went in on the trial version and tried to remove the stubborn partitions. I actually had to write zeros to that drive. It took 50 minutes to clean that 128GB SSD and after that, the installation was completely flawless. Amazing! This dude is screaming fast.

Finally, I always install Opera and Chrome (and Chromium) on every machine I build. The past few versions of Chrome/Opera have had unsatisfied dependencies. Had to run sudo dpkg -i on both .deb files in terminal to get them on the system. All done!

                      Good job!
Apparently not all HP's are equal.
I have an HP-17cn10035bu and I turned Secure Boot off to get a good install.
