Links in Thunderbird will no longer open?

When I get a link in a Thunderbird email message it fails to function when I click on it.
    This just started happening.
Is it just my computer or is this a "bug"?

I just moved from KDE neon the Kubuntu 22.04.2 LTS and I've used Thunderbird for years. I've never had a problem with it in either distro.
So, it's probably not a bug. Possibly something you installed stepped on it. I'd export my contacts and save my emails, just for insurance, and then reinstall Tbird. IF that doesn't work then I'd purge it and reinstall it. Easy things first, hard things last. IF you ISP keeps your emails on its server then you probably don't need to store them locally unless you want to.

Wouldn't hurt to check, in Kubuntu, Settings > System Settings > Apps > Default apps > Web Browser, to make sure nothing slipped there (I recently had such a 'slippage' ).

        It's worse than I thought.
Firefox thinks it is still the default browser even though I installed Brave Browser and made it default.
Now when I click on links in emails they start up Brave.
Firefox still says it's the default browser in it's settings.
        Something is really screwed up.

Are you running the SNAP Firefox, or downloaded from Firefox?

Unfortunately the Firefox Snap is the default in *ubuntu 22.04

You could get rid of the Firefox Snap and install Firefox from a PPA or as binary from Mozilla (you can find threads in this forum that describe how to do this, but feel free to ask here if you wish to do so).

You could also just deinstall the Firefox Snap and see if Brave is kept in the settings as default browser afterwards (you installed Brave as a "native" package, didn't you - or is it also a Snap…?).

I've gotten the links in Thunderbird to show up in the "new" FF but of course they just can't allow us to have the tabs on bottom.

I had been running Brave for two years and its peculiarities began to wear on me, especially how the management works. So, I first purged firefox and snapd and then downloaded a binary of firefox and installed. Importing links into Brave was a PITA, but importing Brave links into firefox worked effortlessly. (As Claydoh pointed out in an older post, purge doen't delete config files in your home directory, so everything firefox needed was still in the configs.). All in all, I'm glad I moved back to the non-snap version of Firefox.

I'm working on Konqueror right at the moment. It's fast.
Just need to get use to how to get around (as usual).
                      Tabs on bottom already.
I think probably the each have their own bother.

Just curious, GregM, when I click on your link in Post#12, I get "The requested topic does not exist."
