[SOLVED] Upgrade from 20.04.5 > 22.04 today Desktop is not coming up

    Hello,

I updated today but now the desktop won't show up. I see the Kubuntu splash screen and then it goes back to the text screen showing some error repeatingly

ACPI Error: AE_NOT_FOUND while resolving a named reference package element - \_SB_PCIO_LNK9 (20210730/dspkginit-438)

I'm able to switch to the commandline strg-alt-f3

    What can I do?
    Thanks and Rgds

      Hello,

with the startx command nothing happened.

I found a solution in another forum which helped:
      https://askubuntu.com/questions/1284266/the-installation-of-the-nvidia-display

      Update August 2022:

The latest Ubuntu kernel 5.15.0-46 works great with the custom nvidia-340 driver package developed by kelebek333.
So in order to get the old drivers running, the following worked for me.

only the echo command wouldn't work (rights) and I made it manually with touch .... and edit the file.

      add-apt-repository ppa:kelebek333/nvidia-legacy
      apt update
      apt install nvidia-340
      echo "blacklist nouveau" >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-nouveau.conf
      update-initramfs -u
      reboot
      This command sequence helped.

Thanks for this information in the other forum.
