blind first login (after install) on iMac with broken screen

    Dear listers,

I have a 2012 iMac which screen only provides some coloured vertical lines; I could use it under osx with a second display, but the osx was painfully slow. I tried kubuntu live from a USB thumb drive and was thrilled by its many qualities (Kubuntu 22.04.1 LTS). I installed it with automatic login, using the secondary monitior. Now Ubuntu us installed, but I can't get to the point were information is displayed on the secondary display. I have tried login in my hitting enter after colours stabilised on the 1st screen, tried, after reboot, to login by typing my pwd and then enter, tried, after reboot, to login by entering my id, enter, pwd, and enter, all failed. I tried left-key (works on live Ubuntu from the USB drive), SUPER-P and fn-f4 to switch to the secondary screen without success.

Would anyone have pointers to get mirroring displays from the login screen ?
    thanks in advance ! Eric
