I have 2 external usb drives in /etc/fstab that get auto mounted at boot . If I put the system (an old Dell laptop) to sleep the drives do not remount when I wake it up .
Is this a bug or feature ?
It is probably a disconnect (literally!) between the laptop shutting down the USB bus and turning it back on, and the sleep/wake cycle. Fstab doesn't get loaded except during bootup, so a disconnected drive won't be automatically re-mounted
I'd say using Plasma's automount options for removable devices will work perfectly for this situation, so you might want to check those out. They have worked fine for me for this sort of situation.
The other option is to manually set up a script run at resume to re-mount the drives.
