How do I format an external ssd drive?

I bought a new external drive, formatted as exFat by default. I want to reformat it to ext4.

KDE Partition Manager doesn't like this drive. All the options for doing anything with it are grayed out.

Is there a K friendly app out there, similar to the Gnome Disk Manager?

gparted, GNOME partition editor should work.

There may be a simple reason why KDE PM is not seeing your drive.
Did you click Refresh (in one of the menus at the top)?
    Is it unmounted?

Is there one existing partition on it?
Click on it? Option to delete it?
      Then create new options showing?
