[DESKTOP] Having an issue with my graphics card

okay, first off I want to say hello and good evening /morning/ afternoon.

now here is the Hardware I am having problems with: AMD Cape Verde 7000 Audio / video out via dual display ports 4 GB (came out of an old Dell desktop).

Now the problem is this:

intermittent loss of video, like if am watching youtube or a movie it drop video and my monitor gives the no signal is on message only way to get video back is to do a hard reset of the machine.
But this also happens some time if I am Using my Drawing tablet to do a quick sketch, or if am working with SDL code and testing games software and now it started doing if the system is Idle.

I am not smart enough to interpret what I am seeing, I am guessing it could be a driver issue but after having looked all over the web I have not found a lot of current info, what I did find was very old and did not apply to my current issue.
But on the other hand it could mean the hardware is failing. I do not know.

so here I am hoping some one can help me out, I would really be appreciate it.

Fist thing is to check for loose cables at both ends. Then try a different cable, to rule out the simplest and easiest thing. Try different ports, if available, on both the computer and monitor.
In the past couple years I have had both bad cables and one that simply could not be fully inserted into the GPU, which both caused this sort of symptom.
if this is a laptop, it could be a bad cable, or dying component, which of course will be a bit harder to test.

tried the advice above to no avail, well looks like the card will be need to be replaced until then I will use the crappy Intel 4400 HD graphics that are builtin .
