Cannot use headphones and line out concurrently

When I upgraded from 20.4 to 22.04 on my PC, I noticed I could choose either headphones or line out, but not both at the same time.

It had always worked on 20.04

This means I cannot run an amplifier without manually switching the output.

Is there a way to fix this?

Here is the output of inxi -SMA

My BIOS has the audio set to AC97. Choosing anything else causes no audio at all.
