Screen suddenly turned all grey! video / graphics driver issues?

While watching a youtube video, the audio suddenly stopped and since I was away from the screen I went to investigate, thought maybe it was an incoming call (KDE Connect stops videos to receive phone calls) and was shocked to see the screen grey on both monitors.

Restarted and it seemed to boot up ok and everything seemed fine but after a few minutes once again the screen went grey, this time a lighter shade. All grey, everything. This time the audio continued for a bit and then it cut off.

Next few times I got weird screen effects, choppy and different colors. I'm not sure why this is happening but suspect it has something to do with drivers or something recently installed or upgraded?

    Code:
    inxi --graphics

    Graphics:

Device-1: AMD Barts PRO [Radeon HD 6850] driver: radeon v: kernel

    Display: x11 server: X.Org v: 1.21.1.4 driver: X: loaded: ati,radeon unloaded: fbdev,modesetting,vesa gpu: radeon resolution: 1: 1920x1200~60Hz

    2: 1080x1920~60Hz

OpenGL: renderer: AMD BARTS (DRM 2.50.0 / 5.15.0-75-generic LLVM 15.0.7)

    v: 3.3 Mesa 22.2.5

The next time I tried to turn on the weird effects were even there on the startup and grub screens. They weren't there before the first few times I restarted when this initially happened. I tried to boot into a lower kernel but rather than booting up, the monitor went into sleep mode or turned off, indicating that there was no signal going to it!

Not sure what is going on as I'm not an experienced or advanced user, but I can follow instructions and use console commands. Thanks in advance!
