Maybe so, but if Kate won't do what you want/need, spending time trying to get it to do so is just as much a "make work project". Sometimes you just have to accept the inevitable and move on.
Windows no longer obstructs my view.

How much time will be saved using Gedit vs Kate if Kate is slower for user workflow by 3 strokes to 1 or more? The work you put in now may save orders of magnitude other work later when added up over time. If its your company, I am sure time is an important factor for you. If you are a tech or admin and only building the machines... well... come on... step up; don't be lazy. And you or your client may find that there are other limitations with Kate that might prove problematic if you or their users are used to a certain way of doing things that will force you back to install it later anyway, which costs more time and money. Besides, you can automate the install or do a network deploy. No need for it to be hard.

I am not trying to push you to use Gedit. I use Kate myself and am a bit of a KDE purist too. But, it does not seem to make sense forcing a change when its really not necessary, and rather simple to get what you/they need.

Did Gedit tests and Gedit required
        more work,
        more keystrokes,
        more mouse movement
to do everyday task versus Kate.

Gedit is better for 1 task, hence the question,
but Gedit is worse in other tasks versus Kate.

The task Gedit is better at is:
Ctrl-Right Arrow = move Right to next word with many blank lines between words, in 1 keystroke.
Ctrl-Left Arrow = move Left to next word with many blank lines between words, in
        1 keystroke.

        Question:
How to submit a request to Kate programmer?
What is the Link? web page

You can best contact the vilunteer development team by subitting a feature request (as a bug report) on bugs.kde.org or via mailing list discussion.

          https://kate-editor.org/support/

Probably the mailing would be the first place to go to.

Ah. Gotcha. Well, overall, I would say this is only a minor problem then. I would simply remap the goto shortcut in that case.
