1. Password requested when none has been set
Just installed 22.04 on my Acer Swift3 backup laptop. Restarting the system I am suddenly confronted with a KDE Wallet modal window wanting a password. WHAT PASSWORD? I have set no password, and I have NO desire to have KDE Wallet running at all. This never happened to me on 20.04.
Neither supervisor or account password does anything.
2. Mystery surprises are NOT good.
Having KDE stuff shoved in my face was one of the reasons I left Kubuntu years ago. I'm back and won't likely leave again, but WHY are they doing this crap? And it's blocking my wifi access? Really? I'm locked out. Unbelievable.
KDE Wallet is not in the packages, so apparently, it's not encouraged that we uninstall.
3. System settings control of KDE Wallet does nothing
KDE Wallet has an entry in System Settings, with an "Enable..." checkbox checked by default. I unchecked it, applied the change, and...it did nothing.
This is a well-tested LTS OS? I cannot comprehend how this situation might have occurred.
What's the fix for this mess, please?....[ The fix is to get System Settings working. See #6 below.)
4. Secret knowledge is required. Bad....
The fix is to reboot, it turns out. Apparently one cannot fly this thing without secret knowledge.
Now, if a reboot is needed before a system settings change is actually applied, don't give me an "apply" button that does...nothing. This is bad interface design, pure and simple. Give me a system reboot button. Why? Because that just being honest.
5. No autostart internet connect upon reboot? My PHONE is more competent that this!
So far, I have to re-input the router account password after every reboot.. 20.04 doesn't do this to me; why does 22.04?
I see no fix for this. Is there one?
6. Yes...only it doesn't work. System Settings is a mess too.
In Network > connections...there is a checkbox for "Connect automatically with priority [ 0 ]". It was checked. There was no explanation as to what the "0" meant or what options might be. I entered a 10. I also checked the box below to allow access by all users.
The "apply" button was NOT activated. Huh? Rebooting, I see that this does nothing. Nothing. No autoconnect of wifi. and changes in system settings are gone.
I'm so glad I didn't load this mess on my main laptop.
