[DESKTOP] After upgrade from 16.04: desktop lock/read only after screensaver or monitor off

I have a headless kubuntu file server I now have upgraded to 22.04. Of course now there is no X11 and xorg.conf to fake a monitor for vino-server and I have connected a monitor. The problem now is, if screensaver have been on, or monitor have been off, the desktop becomes read-only. You can move the mouse pointer but no object on monitor can be interacted with. (Lock-screen has been set off). This might also happen after a period of time where mouse/keyboard is not used.
Another issue is that power button does not work, the only way to switch off PC is to keep it down for 5 sec. (this might be related)
I guess this is related to X11 not part of distribution ?

Any tip on how to look for this problem is welcome.

How did you upgrade from 16.04? That would involve first setting things up for EOL upgrades, then jumping to 18.04, then to 20.04, before upgrading to 22.04. At least that is how I understand it.

No, X11 is still used, and is the default.
And xorg.conf file has not been needed for quite a bit longer than 16.04 --2010ish. You can still use a manually created one, if desired or needed.

Since you did such a big jump, I'd start with creating a new user account and seeing if things are acting the same, or no issues.
I also imagine that some of your server specific settings may need reconfiguration
Vino has not seen a new version since 2016, and is no longer maintained afaik, and has been replaced by gnome-remote-desktop. It is still available, of course.

Yes, of course I had to do all the upgrading steps with every second year upgrading. And from my understanding the issues I have came after upgrading from 18.04 and booting into 20.04.
My .xorg file is set up like this (manual created) :

      Section "Device"
      Identifier "VNC Device"
      Driver "fbdev"
      EndSection

      Section "Screen"
      Identifier "VNC Screen"
      Device "VNC Device"
      Monitor "VNC Monitor"

      SubSection "Display"
      Virtual 1024 768
      EndSubSection
      EndSection

      Section "Monitor"
      Identifier "VNC Monitor"
      HorizSync 30-70
      VertRefresh 50-75
      EndSection

One reason for my problems might be connected to kubuntu installed on a SSD and ~\home mounted on a 5T HDD with samba shares. When going to 16.04 I remember that my mounting configuration parameters have changed, I think it was the order of parameters that suddenly matters for them to work. (/etc/fstab, UUID=....)

On this PC I run utorrent server (web GUI) and Teamspeak 3 server, both still working perfect, but netvfy VPN refuses to work, even after reinstall and new setup attempts. So maybe after 4 upgrades I have to do a clean reinstall. Have considered a NAS distro but as I already have a NAS and want something more flexible I prefer a real OS like kubuntu.

Sorry folks, I have been confused here and wasted your time. My desktop PC runs kubuntu, but my file server I struggle with actually runs xubuntu and I am in the wrong forum ! Since I found no reason for desktop going into read-only mode I now re-installs.
