The icons I have positioned at the lower 20% of the desktop (above the panel) become moved upwards after reboot/relogin. This started with 21.04 and I was hoping that upgrading to 21.10 would solve this problem. It did not. Setting to start with saved session did not help.

Perhaps I first need to save a session? Yes, it is not automatic! How to save a session? Cannot find it! Google, yes tick "Restore manually saved session", relogin and eureka, there is an option to "Save session" on the Power/Session submenu of the Application Menu! Move icons back to where I want them and log out and log back in. Finally sorted??
No, not sorted! What am I missing??

You will find in System Settings the option "Startup and Shutdown". Try Startup and Shutdown > Desktop Session, Then select "Restore previous saved session". There are various other options on this last screen.
As a matter of interest, how many icons do have on your desktop screen?

And, maybe more importantly, what Desktop Theme and Icon Theme are you using?Windows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

Was using Kubuntu global theme and Breeze icons. Changed global to Breeze which somewhat reduced the movement, possibly helped by changing to "Restore previous saved session" immediately after saving the session. Bottom row of 10 mm above the panel now became 25 mm above after reboot or relogin - which I can tolerate (previously another login would make it 50 mm - not now).
Claydoh Think you are right about resolution change. What to do about it?

Only thing I can think of is if you are using a different resolution from the screen's native one, or the screen is using a different one during boot, and the resolution is being changed to a desires size once the user has logged in.
This seems to be a slightly common glitch seen over the years, but I don't see any one thing that might cause it.
