Kmail - cannot drag messages from one folder to another

As the subject says, I can't drag messages between folders. When I try to start dragging nothing happens, that is, the message I want to move isn't "picked up"

It was working but stopped a few days ago. I don't remember updating or reconfiguring anything that would have caused this change in operation.

This is Kmail Version 5.16.3 (20.12.3)

and this is my system settings:-

    Operating System: Kubuntu 21.04
    KDE Plasma Version: 5.21.4
    KDE Frameworks Version: 5.80.0
    Qt Version: 5.15.2
    Kernel Version: 5.11.0-41-generic
    OS Type: 64-bit
    Graphics Platform: Wayland
    Processors: 12 × Intel® Core™ i5-10400 CPU @ 2.90GHz
    Memory: 7.5 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: Mesa Intel® UHD Graphics 630

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

It isn't clear 'how' you are attempting this. Are you just click 'n dragging? If the message in question isn't being highlighted before dragging, then it isn't selected, so no action will happen. If that is the case, click so the message is highlighted, then click+drag.
Windows no longer obstructs my view.

      Hi

      Thanks for the answer.

Yes the message IS highlighted before I attempt to drag it.

      Always "Left-click-to-highlight" : "release-the-button" then "left-cllck-on-highligted-message-and-with-button-still-pressed-drag"

      ... and nothing happens

Maybe right-clicking and choosing "move to" will succeed. I do not have k-mail installed so cannot try or replicate.

            Hi

Yes I can and do use the "move to" option but some of my local folder structures are quite deep and it's a pain continually navigating through them... this is the sort of thing drag-and-drop was designed for ;-)

              An update on this....

              - From within Kmail drag-and-drop works in the address book.

              - I can drag files etc into kMail from e.g. Dolphin etc.

              - it appears that this issue is related to message lists.. That is, from any message list I just cannot pick messages up. As if the messages are locked.

              Any further ideas anyone?
