This is a revisit of a bug reported as far back as 16.04 - the ability to place a space between buttons was removed after KDE4 and no one has ever "fixed" this.
I encountered the original reason I want this available - I accidentally closed a window instead of maximizing it - so the issue popped back into my head. Since people are often visual, here's what I want in pictures;
This is now:
This is the desired result:
I just need a little extra space so I don't slip up and close by mistake. Seems like an easy ask - just a transparent button with no action associated with it.
I tried to dig in and figure this out myself, but I can't even find the place to look. The Aurorae theme doesn't seem to have the needed files in /usr/share/kwin/aurorae/ so the contents must be IN a file somewhere.
I ultimate fix would be to have a spacer available for every theme but I don't know where to start.
