If someone has advise on where to post this bug...
kubuntu 20.04
renerder opengl 3.1 and 2.0
wake the machine and every so often the lock screen just shows the spinning wait thingy. press power and it does an orderly shutdown.
FWIW: this machine ran ubuntu mate 20.04 without any problems
