[SOLVED] vlc cannot find any renderers

VLC 3.0.9.2

When I select Playback -> Renderer

all I see is Local , Scanning .

This worked on bionic
I flushed iptables but it made no difference

Any thoughts ?

Firewall settings?
It is working fine here on the same VLC version.

Thats why I flushed iptables and disabled the fw but it made no difference

The 'scanning' is 'greyed' out

So I did a re-install using 'snap' as my user and now it works ?
