Since the last two kernel updates, boot is stuck without plasma.
Booting into "Ubuntu, with Linux 5.4.0-40-generic" or ...42... reproduces the problem:
The workaround for the moment is choose "Ubuntu, with Linux 5.4.0-39-generic" from the grub menu
CTRL-ALT-F2 does get to another console, so it would be possible to investigate things from there, but I am ignorant what I should investigate next! I would be very grateful for any suggestions what I should investigate next.
The pic below shows where it gets stuck:
kubuntu stays in console, with the last line displayed either "Finished PostgreSQL RDBMS." or "Finished resolvconf-pull-resolved.service.", but no plasma desktop ever appears.
