    Successful 20.04.2 Install

    Obviously it's 20.04.1

It is installed completely. The only thing I miss is the HPLIP GUI, but CUPS "driverless" works fine, even the wireless aspect of the HP Deskjet 3755 works. I tried hplip 3.20.3 (from the repos), 3.20.5 (from HP), and even an older 3.17.9; but they all fought the inclusion of the GUI and fought the setup of wireless printing. Maybe HP will catch up with *buntu 20.04 - someday.

The other thing missing is having an 802.11ac wifi adapter. I have a USB adapter that worked fine under 18.04 (rtl88x2bu-dkms package), but nothing exists to support it in kernel 5.4 - as far as I have seen . That's O.K. for now, I still have my trusty Panda PAU09, and even though it is 802.11n, the 500mbs pipe behind it makes it faster than it used to be. COVID-19, and working from home now, pushed me into dumping DSL and going bigger Shoulda done it ages ago ...

All is as well as it's going to be for now! The SSDs run like champs and have / and SWAP (yeah, old habits, and all that) on one, and /home on the other - separate partitions/drives - made the clean install easy, uneventful, and safe for my data. Backed up /home last night! The installer for 20.04.1 seemed pokey, and a bit argumentative, but a couple of restarts and it got me there; and the install actually went fast once the live USB submitted to my will!

I think I like Focal well enough for now.

Well, I found the instructions for installing the driver on the BrosTrend AC1200 802.11ac driver. All is well at ac speeds.

that wi-fi driver was under review for kernel 5.6, though i am not sure, if it then made it to kernel.
it's a good LTS so far.

Yep, it showed up in 18.04 - restricted repo, I believe.
