    New Kubuntu installation

    Hi all,

I am about to install 20.04 onto an ssd, but I really really really want the /home/ to be on a separate hdd.

Would somebody be kind enough to give this beginner a step by step guide on how that can be done.

I installed 20.4 some weeks ago and like wht I see.

There are difficulties, I've been using Suse for 25 years and one gets used to the way things are done to the point of not realising they are, in a sense, proprietary., so there's a lot to learn to get back to where I was in terms of 'ease of use'.

Best regards in these strange days where we are locked up with our computers and not allowed to mix with people!

    Who'd have thought it eh?

    Chris

Shouldn't you rather do the opposite? I mean, install /root on the HDD and /home on the SSD?
Most of the disk I/O is done on /home.

Anyway, to do that, you have to tell the installer to "do something else" when it asks where to install the system.
There are a lot of guides out there, with pictures and all.
    See this one, for example.

Basically you would want a structure like this one:

Name:	psm5Z.png
Views:	1
Size:	55.2 KB
ID:	644782

Plus maybe an EFI partition for boot.
You have to use the "Change" button to set the mount points.
