HP Printer very slow to respond

I've seen several complaints about HPs when using 20.04.

My HP 8720 Pro is VERY slow to respond when using 20.04. Using Okular to print a document, after selecting "Print" it takes about a minute and a half before the print dialog opens then another minute and a half to begin printing. It works fine, just much slower than normal.

Anyone else experiencing this or know a solution? Is this just HP not updating their drivers?

FYI, the printer works normally from other computers or when using 18.04.

A shot in the dark, but is it connected via USB , network, or wireless?

If USB (and possibly network) is the driver used 'ippusbxd' instead of an actual device specific driver?
If so, try uninstalling this, and using a normal driver.

I know not exactly apples and oranges, but using 20.10 and my HP Officejet 5255 connected wireless, I printed your post in about 33 seconds.

the printer is network connected - hard wired. And like I said - only experiencing the lag with 20.04 KDEneon
