[SOLVED] Can't write onto external HDD

Hi, I am new to Kubuntu and recently installed it on 2 laptops. In both of them, I can read the contents of my external HDD and transfer to other drives but I can't write anything into it. I have tried with a USB flash disk and this works okay. So the only affected device is the HDD. Kindly assist.

No information provided in your request. What is the external HDD formatted as; what operating system was it previously used with?

When I have problems like this, I use Dolphin and look for the Removable Device. Then i right mouse click, select properties and look for Permissions. If I am not the User and Group, I then know where the problem lies and then change owner etc.

It's formatted NTFS and used with Windows.
I plugged it into windows and repaired the drive and now everything works okay. Thank you.
