Wifi won't stay connected to my iPhone hotspot

Thinkpad x260 running 20.04

Kubuntu will not stay connected to my iPhone hot-spot for more than a couple minutes. This only happens with my Linux desktop. All my other devices have no issues with this.


This is the usual sequence of events:

• I disable/re-enable hot-spot on my phone.
• I disable/re-enable wife on Kubuntu
• Kubuntu sees the phone
• I click connect.
• I remain connected for 2 to 10 minutes.
• Kubuntu loses internet.
• Kubuntu WiFi interface displays a "configuring interface" message for several minutes.
• Kubuntu WiFi disconnects and loses sight of the iPhone hot-spot.

I also had this issue with 18.04. And again, only with Linux. My ancient Roku has no problem remaining connected to my phone. Neither did my Windows laptop when I had one.

What can I do to improve this?
